Three facts before you plan a casino hotel stay from this region

UK Casino Hotel Review is an independent editorial guide for travellers who want lodging and a licensed casino on the same property. Inside Teesside and North Yorkshire we found no currently operating hotel that qualifies. The round-up therefore widens to the nearest verified combinations and says so plainly — without padding the list with hotels that merely sit near an unrelated casino.

In short

If you are starting from Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington, York, Scarborough or the Moors and you specifically want a stay where the casino belongs with the hotel, this guide shows which properties cleared that test — and which nearby casinos do not.

Confirm the integration

Ask whether the casino sits inside the hotel, shares the same operated complex, or is only a short walk from an unrelated property. Only the first two qualify here.

Read the venue page

Each entry explains how lodging and gaming relate, names the licensed operator where we verified it, and points you to official contacts — never to a booking form on this domain.

Book and check details officially

Rooms, rates, offers, dress codes and opening hours change. Telephone numbers and official websites on each page are the authoritative channel.

What counts — and what does not

A clear line for casino hotels

Included here

Hotels with a licensed casino on the premises, attached to the building, or operated as part of the same leisure complex. Guests can treat lodging and gaming as one destination rather than two separate errands.

Left out on purpose

City casinos with nearby Premier Inns or Travelodges, adult gaming centres, bingo clubs, unfinished large-casino schemes, and hotels that once hosted gaming decades ago but no longer do.

A hotel across the road from a casino is still just a hotel across the road. This guide refuses that shortcut. Editorial standard · UK Casino Hotel Review

Regional finding

Inside Teesside and North Yorkshire

Standalone licensed casinos do operate in and around the region — for example Grosvenor Casino Stockton on Chandlers Wharf and Opera House Casino in Scarborough — but they are not hotel properties. Middlesbrough’s former Dragonara / Thistle casino-hotel arrangement is historical; the Fry Street hotel now trades as Leonardo Hotel Middlesbrough without a casino. A large casino and hotel scheme once proposed for Gurney House was never completed.

Adult gaming centres and machine shops appear on local high streets. They are not casinos with hotel rooms, and they are not part of this round-up.

Ordering basis

Not a paid ranking

Entries are ordered by how closely the casino is integrated with the hotel, then by the breadth of on-site facilities. Nobody paid for a place on this list, and nobody can buy a higher position.

Honest scope

Why the list leaves the region

Padding this round-up with hotels that merely stand near a casino would mislead travellers. We widened to properties we could verify as genuine hotel–casino combinations and labelled the journey from Teesside clearly on each page.

The result is shorter than a forced “top five”, and more trustworthy for that reason.

What independence means here

We describe venues. We do not speak for them.

No affiliation

Names appear descriptively. We do not reproduce venue logos, brand colours or site layouts.

No bookings

There is no reservation widget, no payment form and no affiliate “book now” that pretends to be the hotel.

No invented figures

If we could not verify a room count, opening hour or licence detail, we omit it or keep the wording general.

No house odds talk

We never present gambling as income, investment or a fix for money trouble. Entertainment only, with risk stated plainly.

Travel notes from the North East

How far is “nearest” in practice?

From Teesside, Resorts World Birmingham and the Coventry arena campus sit on the main north—south motorway spine — typically around three hours by car depending on traffic, with rail options via York or Darlington into Birmingham or Coventry.

London entries suit travellers who are already heading south by train: King’s Cross and the Elizabeth line put Knightsbridge and Tottenham Court Road within a short onward hop. Journey times vary; treat our distance lines as orientation, not a timetable.

If your trip never leaves North Yorkshire, the honest answer remains that a true casino hotel is not currently available locally. Plan a night out at a standalone casino separately from your hotel, or travel to one of the verified combinations above.

18 plus responsible gambling motif

Responsible gambling

Casino floors are 18+ and gambling involves risk

Licensed casinos in Great Britain admit only adults aged 18 and over. Hotel lobbies, restaurants and some leisure areas may welcome younger guests; the gaming floor does not. Gambling can become harmful. Warning signs include spending more than you can afford, chasing losses, borrowing to gamble, or gambling taking priority over work and relationships.

Use established self-assessment tools rather than informal quizzes: GambleAware gambling harms assessment and MyGamCare. For confidential help call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or visit GamCare.

To self-exclude from land-based casinos in Great Britain, ask about the SENSE scheme at a participating casino. GAMSTOP covers online gambling only and is not a route to exclude yourself from a physical venue.
